Windows Universal apps are those apps which can be run on any of Microsoft’s platforms. If you are a Windows developer, then you must be well aware of the Universal apps. These apps will be compatible with any platform of Microsoft with some tweaks and changes in the user interface but not in the underlying code. But the good days seem to come to an end for Windows RT users. Microsoft has announced that as soon as the Update 3 for Windows RT arrives, it won’t ve able to run the Universal apps anymore.
Microsoft issued the following statement:
Surface (RT, Surface 2 and third-party ARM-based Windows PCs and tablets) only run apps built for RT and not Universal Windows Apps. There are lots of apps that work on RT, so they’ll be able to continue to enjoy apps, games, music and movie content.
Apart from this issue, there are some more shortcomings which the Windows RT user will face. Windows RT will not get the Windows 10 update which is a matter of sheer disappointment. Microsoft will have launch an update around September 2015. The new update will improve the Start menu and lock screen. If you want to update your Windows RT device, do check the Windows Update menu from Control Panel and check if the update is ready to be downloaded.
