Windows 10 Build 18922 Brings A Standalone Cortana Beta App

Microsoft has recently released Windows 10 Build 18922 in its Fast Ring. As expected, Fast Ring brings a lot of bugs along with fixes from previous bugs, some new features and a couple of known issues. This time, the new feature, worth mentioning is a standalone Cortana application in Beta.

Windows 10 already has a Cortana application pinned in the Start Menu. You have to tap on the ring icon to initiate the Cortana app. But, with Build 19822, there will be a Cortana separate from the taskbar.

The new feature was first spotted by a Twitter user Albacore. The user tweeted, ” Here’s the new Cortana app in action. Very reminiscent of current mobile experiences.” He also tweeted a couple of screenshots.

The standalone Cortana application is presently in its Beta version. The app is currently a win32 app with some touch of UWP, here and there. If you have Windows 10 Build 18922 on your system, then you may try out the new app by going to the Run prompt and running ‘ms-cortana2:’
