Outlook Login Issue: Microsoft Issued A Temporary Workaround

Many Outlook users have recently encountered a big, which is not letting them sign in to Outlook. Microsoft is aware of the issue, and thus released a temporary workaround, until the issue is successfully resolved.

The bug which Outlook, manifests in two ways. Microsoft stated the below statement. Check it out:

ISSUE

You are prompted to sign into Outlook for your Outlook.com account and receive the error dialog below.

Or, you already have your Outlook.com account added in the Outlook Profile, but “Need Password” is displayed on the Status Bar. When you attempt to sign in with your Outlook.com account you receive the error dialog below.

“You can’t sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead.”

Microsoft has started working on the permanent fix, but for now the Redmond based tech giant recommends users to disable Support Diagnostics. One reason behind this solution is that the bug might be related to how Outlook is authenticating for the diagnostics in some situations.

You can disable Support Diagnostics from Registry Editor. You have to set the “DisableSupportDiagnostics” DWORD value to 1 which indicates True.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General]
"DisableSupportDiagnostics"=dword:00000001
