Microsoft has been struggling hard to maintain the standard of the smartphone market which it acquired from Nokia. Now finally the Redmond based Tech titan confirmed that they are closing Nokia Oyj’s former handset product development unit in Salo, Finland. What is more shocking is that 2300 employees are going to lose their jobs. As per reports, Microsoft has been trying hard to cope up with the degrading business of the smartphone section of Nokia. It planned for a global layoff of 7800 employees from the smartphone sections.

Microsoft to close Finnish website with layoffs of 2300 employees

In the month of June, Microsoft gave an alarm of the upcoming mishap. CEO Satya Nadella sent emails to employees mentioning that they should be ready to face some tough decisions in the coming days. However the other two Finnish websites Espoo and Tampere, will not be closed.

It is speculated that Microsoft will continue with the same policy of business with the smartphone section in the coming days. The company will launch less number of devices compared to now and will be curtailing unnecessary sections of the Phone hardware business.
