Laptops and computers come in so many special editions which are mostly on movies, games, sports and TV shows besides technical specifications and editions. But very little emphasis is put on health care. We have never seen any company launching any healthcare edition laptop or PC. Finally HP is highlighting the importance of health care through its devices. The company is bringing the health care editions to a number of laptops. The important aspect of the laptop is that they are sanitizable and all-in one desktops aiming for a holistic approach.
The new devices being included in the healthcare editions are HP EliteBook 840 G5 Healthcare Edition notebook, the HP EliteOne 800 G4 23.8 Healthcare Edition All-in-One (AiO), and the HP Healthcare Edition HC270cr Clinical Review Display.
Senior director of global healthcare at HP, Reid Oakes, said in a press conference that the healthcare edition devices are custom made to meet the quality requirements of he healthcare units. He said that special attention has been given to patient safety, smarter workflows, telemedicine, and security features and all the facilities that meet the legal requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). “HP designed these computers for easy sanitation, so you can clean the computer while it’s still on,” Oakes said. “The clickpad is also calibrated to work with touch by surgical gloves.”
Oakes said that, on average, clinicians log into workstations and applications 70 times a day, based on a study by HIMSS Media for HP. HP noted that in 2016, over 16 million health care records were exposed or stolen, with the average cost of data breach per lost or stolen record estimated to be $355 in the U.S.
The editions will incorporate HP Easy Clean software that will allow users to clean the device with germicidal wipes while the device is still on. It also includes a privacy feature knwon as the HP Sure View Gen4. The HP Sure View Gen4 prevents the device being viewed easily from the side. The software have the audio video calling It is also optimized for audio and video calls so that it can be used for video consultations with other healthcare experts across the world.
