Just earlier this week, information got leaked out regarding the Windows 10 kernel version. The information stated that they would stepping their kernel edition from 6.4 to 10. This change which is planned seems to be a drastic change in the face of industries containing legacy application which might in turn impact them.
The tech giant confirmed in a community blog about the changes to the kernel stating that :
“Developers who are getting ready for Windows 10 should keep in mid that the Windows NT value in the UA environment will step up from 6.4 to 10.0 with the new release. If you possess a code that reckons solely on the kernel edition, we strictly advise you to update the same.”
The big jump from 6.4 to 10 is certainly associated to the great renovation of the inside components of the operating system which makes it the core of all MS products. The organisation plans to group all of its existing products & platforms into so called OneCore which would be a single core of all OSs.
We would really wait for stories from users regarding the glitches found in the legacy applications since compatibility would surely be a cause. Well their kernel version could have been named any random number since its all matter of performance & good service.
