Method 1: Disable Hardware Acceleration

Hardware Acceleration is a technology that deploys accelerated or enhanced use of the CPU or GPU for performing graphic intensive operations. Gaming software, recovery software, and streaming software are some of the applications which deploy GPU intense operation. Usually such applications have the hardware acceleration feature.

If your CPU is not that powerful, or has become old, you can opt to not stress your CPU. Simply turn off Hardware Acceleration. For Discord application, launch it first. Then click on User Settings located at the bottom left corner of the screen. Then go to Appearance and find the option Hardware Acceleration. Tap on the slider to turn it to grey color. This will disable hardware acceleration. You can enable it anytime, by following the same process.

Method 2: Install The Updated version of Discord

If you have made any changes that is causing the problem, then uninstalling and reinstalling the app can solve the issue. Also, sometimes a bug accompanying an update can make your CPU stressed out. So, installing the updated version can solve the CPU usage problem. You can uninstall the application from Control panel or from Settings app.

Method 3: Deploy More CPU Cores

By default Windows 10 PC does not use every single cores. It depends on a lot of factors. So, if you want, you can enable your PC to utilize more cores, so that the load is distributed uniformly among the various cores. You can do it very simply. Press Windows+R to launch the RUN window. Next, type msconfig and hit Enter.

As the system configuration opens, go to Boot tab. Click Advanced Options.

Now, Boot Advanced Options window opens. Check the Number of processors. Change the number of processors to your desired. Click OK. Then click Apply and OK to save the changes.
