One of the greatest things in Windows 8 is its own built-in Media Player. This player is named as Xbox Music app,
which you will find in the windows start menu as shown below.
Go to the start menu, and type in music
Click on it.
How to play any audio file
Go to the menu as shown
Select your desired song by browsing through your computer’s hard disk as shown
Now Click on Open and the selected file will start playing.
Advantages:
The greatest advantage of using the built-in music player in windows 8 is that it is totally connected to the X-box music Store
through which you can regularly get the updates of the new releases and also download it via an internet connection at the same time. Also the interface
is truly awesome. There is also an option available in which you can play your audio files present in your Skydrive account.
Before playing any song you can view the details of the song by just moving the cursor over the song name.
X-Box Video:
Now coming to the video part, Windows 8 improvised on this part too. Windows 8 has an built-in video player.
This player is named X-Box Video which you will find out in the start menu as shown below:
Go to the start menu and type in video
Click on the 1st result.
How to play any video file
Go to the menu as shown.
Select your desired video file by browsing through your computer’s hard disk as shown
Now click on Open and the selected file will start playing.
Advantages:
The greatest advantage of using the built-in video player in windows 8 is that it is synchronized with X-box video Store.
Using the X-box store you can stay updated about the new releases and also download the files of your choice instantly. The interface is too good.
Disadvantage:
One great disadvantage is that the built-in video player doesn’t support all available file formats e.g.: FLV,3GP,MKV.
This happens due to the absence of the proper codecs required to play the file. I prefer you all first download the sark codecs online.
and then try to run these files. Else an option is always open to you is that to switch over to a new player like KMPlayer.
