GROOVE

Microsoft has uploaded a blog post today mentioning that from March 31, 2019, Windows 10 users will not be able to stream music from One Drive cloud platform via the Groove Music application. The changes will be in effect from April 1, 2019 and will be applicable for Windows 10 PC, Windows 10 Mobile, Xbox Ones, etc. The change will be applicable to Forza Horizon 3 game because the game also allowed users to play music through the Groove app while playing the game.

Microsoft doesn’t have any new plans to reap for Groove music app. The Redmond based tech giant announced in December, 2018, that the company would be taking down the Groove app for iOS and Android. So, it didn’t seem to be a surprise when Microsoft announced the same about Windows 10 users.

If you are worried about your OneDrive music, then do not worry. You can chill because the change would be applicable only in streaming the music. It won’t refrain you from playing the songs from your OneDrive collection. So, you can play them anytime. But the data or files stored On Groove services will be destroyed by the end of April, 2019.

Here’s what the company said about data backup and the Forza Horizon game:

Can I back up or delete my Groove Music data?

Yes. In the Groove Music app, navigate to Settings . Under the Privacy section, you’ll have the option to export your music info for backup purposes or delete it before music in your OneDrive stops syncing on March 31, 2019.

What’s happening to Groove Music in Forza Horizon 3?

The Groove Music OneDrive Streaming service will be retired on March 31, 2019. After that date, streaming your music through Forza Horizon 3 won’t work, and the in-game OneDrive music feature will be turned off.
