Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster recently talked about the upcoming big endeavours of Cyanogen and it includes the integration of Cortana with the operating system. Not many people are aware of Cyanogen, but it’s the newest and most promising alternative smartphone OS Manufacturer. Just like Google has Android, Apple has iOS, Cyanogen is the plausibly the best “alternative” OS for smartphones. It has back up from top companies like like Andreessen Horowitz, Tencent, Qualcomm, Foxconn, Telefonica and Microsoft Corp.
Kirt McMaster recently visited at an launching event of a new nascent smartphone called WileyFox which is running the Cyanogen OS. While the event was a humble one, but McMaster had a lot to share with news reporters. “Ultimately if you are going into the mass market, when you consider the iPhone and Apple’s marketing budget, you have to have signature experiences that really stand out and you are going to see some of these things [from us] by late Q2, early Q3 of next year”, said McMaster. But the biggest stroke came when he revealed about Microsoft’s plan to incorporate Cortana into Cyanogen.
Cortana has an ever increasing demand compared to Siri and Google Now and the Cyanogen version of Cortana is already running flawlessly. McMaster said that the new version will provide Cortana to users. It’s definitely a big boost for a startup company like Cyanogen. According to McMNaster, Cortana is potentially superior to both Siri and Google Now. hence he took the decision to choose Cortana for Cyanogen. “When Apple launched Apple Music at WWDC, they showed the Siri integration with Apple Music. Siri doesn’t power Spotify like that so we can do these kind of things with for example, integration of Microsoft’s Cortana into the OS enabling natural language to power Spotify and other services.”
