Computer problems are notorious for their ability to stress almost everyone out. Computers have gotten more complex and sophisticated over the years; to be able to identify a problem correctly within a few minutes requires having some tech experience under your belt. This is why it’s important to do a bit of research on common problems to save yourself time, money, and mental wellbeing.

Here are 6 of the most commonly occurring computer problems and their resolution.

1. It Won’t Start

If your computer refuses to start, then don’t panic yet. This is a very common problem, and while many hardware or software culprits may be the cause, it’s usually the power supply. You can do some basic troubleshooting to make sure that the wires are connected properly, both into the case and the power plug. If all fails, then you could be due for a computer repair by experts. Professionals can identify the exact cause of the issue as it can stem from more than one dysfunctional piece of hardware.

2. Blank Screen

If the computer is on and is fed with power, but the screen won’t turn on, there are a few troubleshooting steps that you should try. The average monitor needs two different connections to operate; power from a power socket and a connection to the CPU. Make sure to check if they’re connected properly. If all connections seem to be in good shape, it may be a problem with the screen itself.

3. Blue Screen Crash

The notorious windows blue screen crash is known for causing its fair share of frustration. Usually, the problem is caused by hardware issues. The key to solving this hardware malfunctioning mystery is by searching for the reference error code once the screen turns blue. This should help you know which hardware to replace.

4. Slow Performance

This can be either a problem that’s caused by malware or old hardware. If your processing power is low due to the old equipment used, you should think about upgrading. But if your computer used to be fast and gradually became bogged down, you should download an antivirus and scan for malware that could be causing trouble.

5. Noisy Operation

If you start hearing loud noises coming from your case, then it’s due for a good clean up from the dust. Usually, the cooling fans are the culprit, so if cleaning them still doesn’t help, you should look for a replacement.

6. Frozen Screen

It’s quite frustrating when your screen freezes without any hope or sign that it will resume its normal operation, forcing you to do a hard reboot. Once it freezes, do a hard reboot then backup any important data. Then perform a fresh installation of the OS and perform some tests on the RAM as well to see if it’s the culprit.

No one likes to deal with computer problems as they sometimes can take too much effort and time to be fixed. This doesn’t mean to shy away from trying to identify the problem as some issues are caused by simple malfunctioning that can be fixed in minutes. If all fails, don’t hesitate to ask for help. After all, there’s no reason for you to go completely crazy over an issue that you can’t solve.
