1. LOCK SCREEN TURNED TO A MEMOIR OF SPECIAL MOMENTS:

The lock screen of the new version can be customized to a beautiful collage assembled from all the images of PC, cloud like SkyDrive, smartphones and tablets. The pictures of the collage keep changing in different sizes like a slideshow. This surely boosts up the personal attachment with the gadget.

2. START SCREEN AND ALL APPS SCREEN BACK TO BACK:

The Start Screen of Windows 8.1 is slightly different in the perspective of tile size. There will be 3 different sizes of tiles on the Start Screen. The large tiles will be assigned to the Apps, like Weather and Mail where a detail of the weather will be displayed instantly on the Start screen or some important mails will be put forward your notice via the Start Screen. The smaller tiles are assigned to apps like Photos, Music where there is no requirement of extra space. This makes a very efficient utilization of space available on the Start Screen.
Another new addition to the Start Screen is the All Apps Screen which can be navigated by sliding the Start Screen in an upward motion, which will present in front of your eyes the pool of Apps there in your PC. These Apps can be arranged in various order, like Name, Date etc. and can be pinned to the Start Screen. Just like Windows 8, some apps can be grouped to one.

3. PERSONALIZATION RAISED TO A NEW LEVEL:

Personalization can be done from the Start Screen and it includes change of the background color. The most exciting background that will be coming with Windows 8.1 is the motion sensitive images that move following the motion of the fingers extending from the Start screen to the All Apps Screen. Some beautiful wallpapers are also present with the new version.

4. SEARCH FEATURE MERGES THE WEB WORLD AND THE PC CONTENTS:

The Search feature as shown on the preview is surely going to be a reason of envy to all other operating systems of contemporary times. The Search feature lets you search a topic of interests and displays all the images, web contents, news from internet as well as the contents present in your PC related to the search topic. Not only does it displays the mostly searched results like Wikipedia contents or results from Google Images but at the same time organizes it in such a beautiful manner, that a user can not have a better web browsing experience.

Some further features with the images will be the cherry on the cake. For e.g. a wide domain of search criteria has been provided to the user, like searching only those images of the topic of interest which has high density of a particular color as selected. If you want to search pictures in blue, select the blue color and pictures with high amount of blue in the background or foreground will be displayed. Moreover, further options of viewing images based on face detection is also possible. While browsing topics, you can open apps, SkyDrive, play music which will give you a complete search experience.
